The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the European Commission Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) invited on 19th January 2017 all interested regional offices, European associations and EU institutions to for the kick-off meeting of the 15th European Week of Regions and Cities, to be held on 9-12 October 2017.

The Connected Smart Cities Conference 2017 took place on January 12 in Brussels, in collaboration Open & Agile Smart Cities with the European Committee of the Regions and other close partners.

Now in its seventh year, the Economic Ideas Forum, the Martens Centre's high-level conference on economy was held on 8 December 2016 in Brussels.

The European Commission organised the 2nd edition of European Summit on Digital Innovation for Active and Healthy Ageing on 6th and 7th December 2016. European Commissioner Gunther Oettinger, Markku Markkula President of the European Committee of the Regions and the Regional leaders represented the 74 Reference Sites of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA).

The European Commission’s Directorate General for the Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs organized the European Cluster Conference 2016 in Brussels on the 30th of November – 2nd of December 2016.
