On Saturday 4 May 2019, European institutions open their doors to celebrate the Europe Day.  The Open Day is a unique opportunity for you to discover how European institutions affect the everyday life of its citizens. It is a great opportunity to step inside the institutions’ buildings and take part in special activities, such as public debates and guided tours.

European Entrepreneurial Region (EER) award: application now open until 27 March 2019

The European Entrepreneurial Region (EER) award is an initiative of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) that identifies and rewards EU regions and cities with outstanding, future-oriented entrepreneurial policy strategy, regardless of their size, wealth or specific competences. The regions with the most credible, forward-thinking and promising vision plan are granted the label "European Entrepreneurial Region" (EER) for a specific year.

Dubrovnik-Neretva County is taking part in pilot project RegHub

Dubrovnik-Neretva County is one of the twenty selected regions within the European Union that will participate in the pilot project RegHub.

RegHub is a platform through which local and regional authorities will provide timely, systematic and coherent feedback on their first-hand experiences in implementation EU policy. Actively involving local and regional authorities, EU institutions will benefit from their invaluable input thus producing more efficient policies and, bringing the Union closer to its citizens.

Dubrovnik–Neretva Region participated at the biggest European manifestation dedicated to regional cooperation – European Week of Regions and Cities, which was held from the 8th till the 11th of October, in the organization of European Committee of Regions and Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy - DG REGIO.

The representatives of Dubrovnik-Neretva Region and Regional agency DUNEA had the opportunity to visit the European Committee of Regions, the European Parliament and the European Commission. The delegation held the meeting with Permanent representative of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union, Mato Škrabalo, in the Council of the European union, where they discussed about current programmes and opportunities available for local and regional administration.

Local and regional leaders warn that Europe will never reach its goals over the years 2021-27 without increasing resources to 1.3% of the EU27's gross national income (GNI), a position shared by the European Parliament. They oppose cuts to the EU’s cohesion policy and agriculture, and urge Member States and EU institutions to make new means available for cities and regions to invest in jobs, climate action and integration. 

On 9 October the European Committee of the Regions – the EU's assembly of regional and local representatives – adopted its position on the European Commission proposals for the next EU long term budget, the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) which set expenditure ceilings for all EU policies for 2021-2027.
