President of Dubrovnik-Neretva County Nikola Dobroslavić participated in the round table on implementation of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR), organized by the member of European Parliament Ivan Jakovčić. The main topic of the conferences was goals achieved within the EUSAIR strategy and the Action Plan for the future programming.
The Round Table was opened by the Ivan Jakovčić and Director of the European Commission Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy Lena Andersson-Pench. Pench welcomed the initiative and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation among all stakeholders in the Adriatic Ionian Region as well as sharing experience and working on joint projects that will contribute to the achievement of the EUSAIR goals.
Župan Dobroslavić pointed out that, in spite of the great political support, the remaining resources that were available for the Strategy implementation were underperformed. Dobroslavić as well spoke of the initiatives and priorities of the Adriatic and Ionian Euroregion through transport links as a prerequisite for overall development and the need for financing projects such as Adriatic highways, the modernization of the Italian railway in the southern part and the improvement of overland maritime and air links.
